Subject: SBA Disaster Assistance Available for Mountain Fire Survivors - Disaster Loan Outreach Center location announcement

In response to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s authorized representative, Director Nancy Ward, of the California Office of Emergency Services request on Nov. 25, the US Small Business Administration Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience (SBA ODR&R) issued an Agency Disaster Declaration on Dec. 2 related to the Mountain Fire.

We are moving our Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC). See the details below and in the attached press release.  We need help from the media to get this information out to the community as quickly as possible. Mountain Fire disaster survivors can get free personalized assistance with applications and have questions answered at the DLOC locations before the deadline.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at 571-369-8890 or my colleague Anita Steenson at 571-459-5598 for additional information. We welcome your visit the new DLOC location on Dec. 23 and/or a scheduled interview.

SBA representatives will continue to be available at the Ventura County Office of Education to meet with disaster survivors until Saturday, Dec. 21. On Monday, Dec. 23, the center will relocate to the Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF), Economic Development Collaborative. No appointment is necessary.

About SBA Disaster Assistance for Mountain Fire survivors:

SBA offers low-interest affordable disaster loans to assist homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and most private nonprofits to help with costs of rebuilding or repair of real or personal property that are not reimbursed by other sources.

For small businesses and most private nonprofits SBA also has Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) loan options to assist with paying normal operating costs that they would otherwise have been able to pay had the Mountain Fire not occurred.  Normal operating costs could include rent or mortgage payments, insurance, utilities and staff salaries.

Loan payments and interest accrual for all SBA disaster loans do not begin until 12 months from the initial disbursement.
