Carol's Kids

Carol Acosta retired from teaching in southern California and moved to Thailand. There she helps Hill Tribe indigenous kids from Thailand and Myanmar and especially the Long Neck Karen Village kids as well as other Thais in rural villages. She supports them independently and through her Rotary work as well as activities with other non-profit organizations.

The children and young people she helps want to be educated to improve their lives and that of their parents. She personally supports some and finds sponsors for others. All those that have received help to attend school and get health care have succeeded and none have gotten off track. Carol wants them to reach their educational and personal goals while learning how to protect themselves, especially from human trafficking. (Human trafficking is the second largest business in the world.) She especially focuses on teaching kids about the dangers of the Internet and human trafficking.

Some from Myanmar stay as refugees in Thailand due to the fighting in their country. An example of her work is placing a three-year-old child in safety after her father expressed a desire to sell her to support his drug and alcohol problem. Other Thai girls have lived with Carol while they finish their education.
